3. Administration

  • Meeting called to order at 7:06pm

    • February Meeting Minutes passed unanimously (Wayne 1st, Tabitha 2nd)

    • Next Leadership Meeting:

      • Tuesday April 1, 2025 on zoom

    • Next All Chapter Meeting

      • Sunday April 27 Crafted Hope Brewing. Tabitha confirmed. 

      • We hope to have some fun stuff like pizza, pre-ride at BR. It was a huge success last time, we are anticipating a good turnout

    • RINEMBA Needs Help!

      • Ride Leaders night rides, looking to create a form for ride leaders to choose specific days to lead, Still in need of more mellow ride leaders!

        • Beginner season getting back on the bike late April/early May

    • Ride Lead Coordinator, new leadership position?

    • Sales, fulfillment, and inventory of merch

      • No sales on merch until someone is interested in doing that

    • Trail Bosses: Trail days. Still looking for that

    • Volunteer Coordinator: Events and trail days.

    • Adam Carroll will put out a marketing push

4. Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM)

  • Last month for night rides - moderate success in Woody, very successful in BR, Arcadia 50/50. 

  • Orange Season is over until mid April!! - please post 

  • 2025 Fun Rides

    • DEM license agreement- in hand need signature- Wayne notary, will get to him asap.

      • Waiver a big thing this year, recent fatalities have influenced policy

    • After this is complete, we can book fun rides. Need to reserve dates, not clear on how, online portal.Dennis Wilson will complete.

  • Echo Lake - $15,000 design contract signed, Mike Petraca working on finding a trailbuilder.

    • Total of $150k allocated for the project. This is first time the State has worked with us like this. Very good news. 

  • Need to submit Echo Lake Clean up proposal

  • Request submitted for location for chainsaw classes - no movement

    • Postponed until we can find location

  • Lincoln Woods proposal submitted by Charles to repair the climb road on “All the Way Up”, which is super eroded, bring machines in and get fixed. Also includes emergency evacuation signage.

5. NEMBA Corporate Updates

  • NEMBA COI expired need update for all programs/events

    • Insurance Cert for Ryan Park, and for DEM needed. Wayne confirmed that DEM wants COI for each event. Night Rides, Ryan Park, and Arcadia Clean Up Event coming up.

  • Golden Volunteer shutting down this week. Moved to Eventbrite for all future events. Also New Website/CRM

    • Adam finding lots of bugs with the new website, pretty bare bones. Adam will contact Adam Glick if it makes sense to use the new website

  • Board Restructure

  • Trail School 2025, Williamstown, MA 6/6-6/8 - discussion needed

    • Cyrus B interested in Trail School

    • Vote: Sponsor Cyrus and Mike P to go to trail school up to $200 passed unanimous.

    • Can sponsor 3 members including Cyrus and Mike

  • Elevate Women's + Festival, Stowe, VT, 6/6-6/8

  • Everwild womens summit on May 3 Hale Reservation

  • NEMBA Quebec Trip 2025, 8/8-8/11

  • Member Benefits Coming shortly: Stratton, Atomic, Thunder Mtn and Dirt Church. This is in addition to our current partners who provide member benefits.

  • BOD meeting 2/24 updates from Wayne

    • Proposed changes to bylaws have been presented to the board, board will have 13-20 ppl one or two reps from each state, the president of the chapter will decide who to send. There will be a smaller executive committee, and then bring in people with specialized skills. Also a presidents council which would meet twice a year.

    • Board meeting on Feb 24th, Board approved budget, gross revenue just under $1M. Profit and loss are even. Board was given a copy of proposed changes and have the board vote to approve changes at next meeting.

    • Chapter survey- Wayne will share results

6. Safe Trails

  • Charles to draft a ride lead BMP guide, has contacted Mary McCarthy from Boston for template.

  • $1000 donated to family of crash victim Corporate NEMB/CT Chapter

  • Trail Capacity Grant (Tabitha): CPR/Signage- $5000 ask, due to hear back in mid-March.

  • Evacuation signage (Charles) link to draft proposal Submitted.

7. Events and Rides

  •  March 30th Arcadia Trail Clean Up

    • Partner with Rovers and maybe NEYC.

    • Permit submitted

    • Need to create map of issues

    • Adam Brule to attend

    • Need Certified Chainsaws

  • April 6th Ryan Park XC Race

    • Route created

    • Registration page set up

    • Need a marketing push all month

    • Volunteer sign up going live soon

    • Proceeds discussion

      • Half money to Ryan Park, half to RI NEMBA

      • Motion: In lieu of April 13 ride event, give funds from Ryan Park XC race to Badgers/Ringers. About $3000 donation

      • Passed unanimously

  • April 13th Arcadia NEYC Ride Event - CANCELLED

  • Big River Clean Up: Sat April 26 - Pete+Alan to attend WGCC meeting for more info, to report back next month

  • Woody Hill Fun Ride (MBAS): June 29 (fits lacrosse schedules)

    • Paul to schedule with WLT and WMLT. Paul confirmed dates with the trusts, just submitting applications 

    • Dennis lead. Paul will be available to support.

    • Keene’s can’t do food. Adam to ask Joe D

    • Vote to donate to WLT $100 passed unanimously       

  • Big River Fun Ride: Sunday, September 14 

    • Wayne to lead

    • park n ride partially closed now, DNA trail

    • Wayne made Tom aware of ride date

  • Lincoln Woods Fun Ride: November 9

    • Charles to lead event

    • NEMBA COI expired need update for all programs- Dennis will work with Wayne

8. Member Opportunities

  • Group Rides: night rides on calendar, Anyone want to organize a beginner ride?

  • Low Gear Ladies 3/16 - Woody 

  • Let's get some trail days scheduled.  

    • Paul and Dylan to host in Summer, right now is busy

    • Freeze thaw still     

8. Glocester Land Trust Partnership

  • Project is on hold for easement negotiations

  • GLT is working with DEM and Nature Conservancy, slowly

9. Echo Lake

  • 15k for phase I planning and design - contract signed

  • Earth day cleanup proposal -Dennis will submit soon, either same day as BR cleanup or around it.

  • Looking for builders

10. Ride Area Updates

  • Lincoln - Jay riding soon

  • Diamond Hill- Being maintained, RINEMBA would love to help DiHi crew

  • Woody

    • No pumptrack update

    • Dynamic Cycling to hold 3 weekends of clinics 3/29-30, 7/19-20, 9/6-7

      • There will be no promotion for Dynamic Cycling, not a good partner

  • Arcadia - trees down

  • Big River - 

  • Burlingame - bridge planks need repair. AMC may already have a budget for that. - Need to follow up with AMC. Any takers for a Trail Boss? - no updates

  • Ryan Park - trail work possible. Dr. John willing to help get track set up Jim Grimley to help 

  • Sprague

  • Wayne reported the annual filing is complete.

Wrap up of next steps

• Adam to contact Joe Ducharm about catering for the Woody Hill fun ride on June 29th.

• Paul to send Dennis the ride route for the Woody Hill fun ride.

• Paul to reach out to Shannon regarding the $100 donation to Westerly Land Trust for the Woody Hill fun ride.

• Wayne to update the certificate of insurance for the Ryan Park event.

• Dennis to work on updating other certificates of insurance if Wayne is unavailable.

• Adam to create a "help wanted" list post for various Rhode Island NEMBA positions and share on social media and in the chapter email.

• Charles to draft a Best Practices guide for ride leads.

• Dennis to create a map of issues in Arcadia for the trail cleanup on March 30th.

• Paul to organize at least one trail day at Woody Hill to touch up Ebb and Flow trail.

• Dennis to submit the Earth Day cleanup proposal for Echo Lake.

• Jason to provide an update on trail conditions at Lincoln Woods after riding there.

• Tabitha to lead the first Low Gear Ladies ride of the year on March 16th.
